I cannot say enough kind words about Gifted Hands Midwifery. My first two children was born in a hospital with an epidural. I did not enjoy my second pregnancy. I waited in waiting rooms. It wasn’t personal. The practice wouldn’t give me a steady doctor. It was terrible. So, when I became pregnant with my third, I decided I wanted to do a home water birth. In my research, Midwife Kay’s name come up consistently and I continued to read and hear nothing but good thing about her. Well, the rumor were true! SHE IS AMAZING! Gifted Hands Midwifery is thorough, kind, responsive, and took the time to listen to and answer any concerns I had. As a black woman, too often our medical complaints go unanswered or swept under the rug. Not with Gifted Hands Midwifery. She took every concern I had very seriously and investigated each one. The night of baby’s arrival, she was so calm. She didn’t rush, she was reassuring, and her positive energy put me at ease. I delivered my first daughter at a hospital and it was a traumatic delivery where my voice was not heard and more interventions took place than I was comfortable with. A big "Thanks" to Kay Cleveland! Kay is one of the best, if not, the best midwife in the Atlanta area! Her knowledge of natural birth is incomparable in the industry.

She was there with me throughout pregnancy and delivered my son in November 2018. Kay is professional, honest and true to her midwifery skills. She made me feel comfortable and encouraged me through the process. Her focus was delivering my son safely while she coached me through labor.

I am extremely blessed that I had a midwife like Kay in my corner in the delivery room. I always wanted to do a water birth and Kay reassured me that it was possible and she would help me achieve it. As a first time mom it can be scary, but Kay eased my fears with her level of experience in midwifery. She gave me the knowledge and confidence I needed to have a successful natural birth. “An amazing experience!!”

What an amazing experience!! When my husband and I meant with Mrs Kay for the 1st time I knew we made the right choice about having a home birth. I didn’t know what to expect and she made sure to explain the process she was just a text or phone call away and very consistent.

We attended her pre-labor class, we were able to ask questions and get educated about what to expect during a natural home birth we learned so much.

I went over my 40 weeks and began getting a little impatient and Mrs. Kay kept reassuring me everything was ok and to trust the process. She was able to calm me down during labor when I was losing focus she was patient and very calm we locked eyes and she made sure I was breathing correctly and in 3 pushes baby boy was here!!! This was an amazing experience. This whole process made me realize my strength I’m so greatful for her there is no way I would feel this way if I delivered in a hospital. “The BEST birth experience I’ve ever had!”

I cannot say enough about the impact Midwife Kay and her team at Gifted Hands Midwifery had on me personally, my family, and my entire pregnancy and birth experience. She truly was an answered prayer. Finding out I was pregnant with our fourth child during a pandemic was definitely a surprise but meeting Kay quickly alleviated any fears I might have had. From the very beginning she was compassionate, knowledgeable, attentive and when learning of my previous pregnancy history quickly caught things that had long been ignored by providers in the past. I knew I wasn’t just a number to her but now part of the GHM community and family.

Every visit was thorough, she asked about not only my physical health and genuinely allowed me to express how I was doing mentally and emotionally. She listened without judgment and shared in depth practical advice and helped me overcome anemia and helped me and baby reach a healthy weight in time for birth which had consistently been an issue in previous births. It really was a breakthrough for me to gain the weight I did and I know it was because of her loving care and research based advice on the best supplements I should take.

This was also the BEST birth experience I’ve ever had without a doubt because of Ms. Kay and her incredible assistant Keisha. She came and as soon as she entered there was so much peace, she helped me stay calm and relaxed during contractions and I felt so free with her to do whatever I needed to stay in my birth zone, from singing to moaning to praying she allowed me to be free to labor how my body was leading. When it was time to push and I had a moment of fear she was so reassuring letting me know the baby was right there. In previous births I had always torn because I didn’t know the right way to push but she and Keisha guided me in each push and our baby girl came out! I literally cried with so much joy after she was born because I had never felt so empowered and never experienced such a peaceful birth where I felt so supported, loved, and believed in.

From the amazing prenatal care I received, the incredible birth class, my wonderful birth experience, and the loving postpartum care I experienced I would recommend Midwife Kay and her entire team at Gifted Hands Midwifery again and again! They are truly gifts to the birthing world and every woman blessed to join their community!
